His family announced his death three years after his diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also known as (ALS).

"ALS is a cruel disease, yet it is a certain relief in realizing he has a pair of carers in my amazing sister and a group of nurses she gathered who helped to look for him at home.
The photographer "choosed early to maintain his journey with ALS privately," said to the family, stating, "These of us whose cared for him did our best to respect.
"We are eternally thankful to the diligent doctors who helped us throughout the perils of this disease, as well as the wonderful nurse who got our living together.

"At this point in time, we beg for privacy as we can mourn and come to peace with the difficulty of waving good-bye to Bryan."
